Sacramento Student Trip
Day 1 - Fly from your home to Sacramento for a four day school excursion. Arrive by noon to be met by your tour manager, to be transferred by motor coach to lunch. This afternoon, you'll visit your State Capitol, enjoy a tour of the historic governor's mansion and stop at the State Library nearby. Check into your hotel and get ready for dinner!
Lunch and Dinner
Day 2 - You're off this morning, following breakfast, to tour Sutters Fort State Historic Park and Indian Museum. This area is the site of the outpost established by John Sutter after receipt of a land grant from the Mexican government. The 1839 adobe fort has relics of pioneer and gold rush days. The State Indian Museum is on the grounds and depicts American Indian cultures with displays of feather baskets, jewelry, clothing and art. Depart this area for lunch. The afternoon finds you going to Coloma to the Marshall Gold State Historic Park where Capt. John Sutter's sawmill was the site on the American River in 1848, of the first yellow flecks of gold that launched the California Gold Rush. Marshall was the manager of the sawmill. Enjoy the video presentation, the exhibits, mining memorabilia and a replica of the sawmill, along with Marshall's gravesite at this special park. You'll also have an opportunity to pan for gold. Day 3 - Enjoy a walking tour of Old Sacramento this morning. You and your fellow students will enjoy this restored Western town that was the commercial district during the gold rush! Then visit the Delta King Historic Boat a tour and history of riverboating in the area. Enjoy lunch before your next excursion which is a ride aboard a working paddlewheeler, the Spirit of Sacramento, on the Sacramento River. The afternoon also finds you at the Discovery Museum and Learning Center where you see a million-dollar Mother Lode gold display. There are five themed areas that relate to history, science and technology. Return to your hotel for dinner and the evening. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 - This morning we depart our hotel, board our motorcoach once more to arrive at the State Railroad Museum and Passenger Station. This wonderful building holds 21 restored locomotives and train cars and more than 40- interpretive exhibits, dioramas, pictures, murals and a film presentation on the history of American railroading from 1860-1960. Nearby is the Central Pacific Passenger Station which was the first California terminal for the transcontinental railroad. The group will then go to lunch before a transfer to the airport for their return flight home. Breakfast & Lunch
