Washington, DC Student Trip

Washington Capitol Building Day 1 - Fly from your home to the Nation’s Capitol of Washington, DC. Arrive Reagan National Airport, “hop” on the Metro to the Ballston Metro Center where you find only a short walk upstairs to your hotel, the Hilton Arlington and Towers located and connected to the Ballston Mall by skybridge. Following check-in, have dinner nearby.

Dinner

Day 2 - After your included breakfast, board the Metro to the Capitol building for a guided tour. See the House of Representatives and the Senate, the historic areas and the offices of the government of the United States. The afternoon finds you stopping across the street at the Supreme Court Building, and the Library of Congress. Then make your way to Union Station for dinner.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Note: Capitol Tours need to be scheduled through your congressional representative. It would be good to go through your congressperson so there is no standing in line.

Day 3 - You are up early to make your way for a tour of the White House, home of our President and the famous West Wing. After the tour, board the tram to continue visits to the other memorials and Arlington National Cemetery where you may observe the changing of the guard and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as well as the Kennedy Gravesites. Get on and off at your leisure while you see the Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Viet Nam Memorial as well as the Bureau of Engraving. End your day at the Fords Theater and Petersen House. (Closes at 5 pm) Dinner this evening at the Hardrock Café near Fords Theater. Return to Arlington by Metro once more.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Note: The White House is open. However, the tour has to be made through one of your congressmen (or women) and all dates of birth and social security numbers need to be listed for a security check in order to be put on the schedule through the congressional representative.

Day 4 - We have a 2-day tram pass so we return to the Mall to visit the National Air and Space Museum, the most popular Smithsonian. It includes an IMAX production. We finish at the American History Museum for a “look see” and dinner. (Of course, the new American Indian Museum is also now open and is next to the Air & Space.)

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 - Journey through Virginia to Old Town Alexandria this morning and Mount Vernon, with lunch at the Quick Bite at Mount Vernon Visitors Center. Your motor coach drops you at Georgetown University for a tour of the campus (or George Washington U.) Tonight, enjoy dinner at the KC Café and a performance at the Kennedy Center.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 - Board your motor coach to journey to Williamsburg, Virginia. Your destination is the wonderful Colonial Williamsburg, living history of the seat of our Nation’s heritage. A guided three-hour tour is provided before dinner this evening at the colonial Shields Tavern on the grounds. Check in to the Williamsburg Governor’s Inn to overnight.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 - Reboard your coach to return to Washington today. Stop this morning at Jefferson’s home of Montecello. You will really appreciate this gentleman genius after your tour and observation of his many inventions. Arrive in Washington for your flight home late afternoon.
